Bathing is an activity the human race has engaged in for many centuries, in various settings. Today, many of us simply bathe in our own homes. Even so, today still many people visit sauna’s as well as bathhouses or Hammams (Turkish or Arabic baths).
The following pages shall be dedicated to discussing the bathing habits of the people in the Late Antique Mediterranean, focussing specifically on Ephesus, and looking further into the Isabey Hammam located there.
